Frequently Asked Questions

Fees: I really believe in the importance of investing in yourself and your relationships. Therapy is not cheap but it could cost you way more mentally, physically, financially, spiritually and relationally if you don’t move towards health. Doing the work IS the shortcut. Invest in your health!

The typical industry standard length of session is 50 minutes. Often the time allotted seems too short especially if clients are looking to get to the roots of the problems. I offer sessions that are 50% longer for the same price as a registered psychologist ($200 per 50 minutes). Clients will have the option to book 50 or 75 minute sessions.

Current Rates (a fee increase will take effect May 15, 2023):

            7:30am – 4:00pm (prices includes a daytime discount)

                        50 minutes – $150

                        75 minutes – $200 (best value)

4:00pm – 9:00pm (*evening time slots are usually reserved for couples or families)

                        75 minutes – $225

                        90 minutes – $250 (by request)

                       180 minutes – $500 (Couples/Family Intensive – by request)

No, I do not. I do, however, have a limited number of reduced-fee session slots available – priority will be given based on financial hardship.  Please contact me if you want to know more.

Please check with your health benefits to see if they help cover the cost for services from Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCPA #11244689), Registered Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT #124483), or Counselling Therapists (ACTA).

Many of the larger insurance companies are covering services for Canadian Certified Counsellors – Blue Cross, Medavie Blue Cross, Manulife, SunLife, Green Shield, etc.  I recommend that you call your insurance provider and ask as I’ve found some policies online or in print are not detailed enough to say that in fact they do cover services from at least one of my three credentials.

At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule appointments.  Clients will be charged at 50% of their session rate for late cancellations.

Usually at the start of therapy once per week is recommended to see the work move along at a good pace.  Sessions may spread out later in therapy.
That depends on you. Some clients will get what they need in a few sessions while others need more. I am not a short-term therapist nor am I a long-term therapist. In order to heal from pain and to heal your system clients often use between 6 and 20 sessions—some less, some more.
You can ask to book a free 15-minute phone consultation to talk more about what to expect and get a better sense whether I am a good fit for you. Finding the therapist who is right for you is really important. If you don’t feel that things are going well just let me know! We can talk it through and make adjustments or I can refer you to someone else who may work out better.
